Mega Megabyte

In 1956, IBM’s first hard drive was shipped as part of the RAMAC 305 system. It held 5MB of data, at a cost of $10,000 per megabyte. The system was as big as two refrigerators put together. The same capacity today would be held on a 2” memory stick at a cost of around $8 per gigabyte.
